Exhibition Description

To understand the impact and origins of the food we eat demands the understanding of a complex food system. Unpalatable examines food labeling as an active mediator of food information and knowledge, questioning its ability to suppress or reveal food origins, with particular care for food's impact on health, the environment, and human labor. If we must live with packaged foods, how should food labeling perform? In whose interest? What stories should it tell? Are those stories palatable?
